Major Theme: Knowledge can be accessed anywhere. A learner should not be careless when it to learning.

BLOOM'S TAXONOMY:

1. REMEMBERING:

Surely you are joking Mr. Feynman is an excerpt from the autobiography of famous physicist Richard Phillips Feynman. The text discusses the systems of sophisticated Universities, freedom of a learner and traits of a student. Richard Feynman discovers these things on this tenure of study at Princeton University. He explores the institute along with various disciplines it had. He performed many experiments and learned from them. The text encloses some random conversations and anecdotes providing a better understanding.

2.UNDERSTANDING:

The essay puts light upon the fact that curiosity is the mother of al creation. Through Feynman's journey, the text encourages every curious amateur to be a professional. It also explains social interactions are equally important. Feynman is portrayed as a socially awkward person. He is laughed at even when he is right and is regarded as a social blunder. Knowledge should be accessible rather than sophisticated. A learner must be careful during every step of learning because his one minor mistake can return him all the way back to the place where he started. Carelessness must be avoided when learning is the concern.

3. APPLYING:

The first thing we can understand from the text is the flexibility of the human mind and the extent it can reach when one really wants something. Feynman's curiosity led him into various fields from biology to physics to philosophy which helped him get a better insight into his interest. A learner must be versatile and willing to break out of one's comfort zone. The actual world stands out from your comfort zone.

4. ANALYZING:

After reading this text, people were encouraged to broaden their minds and overcome their weakness. The essay is an extract from an autobiography and is written in an informal tone. The test states factual statements and the writer's opinion. It helps developing understanding the core contents of some disciplines. The text is not in the format of an ideal essay since it is an excerpt of an autobiography. There is a lack of coherence. The anecdotes and random conversations break the chain of information.

5. EVALUATING:

The text is quite filled with humor and has an informal tone to it. The excerpt is little hard to understand since it accompanies a series of incoherent conversations. The text in itself is quite inspiring it helps in seeing the world through a broader spectrum. Though it seems hypothetical and nearly impossible to believe the fact how the writer shifts from one discipline to completely different. But given to Feynman's incredible ability to find relations in most parallel things, it must be possible which is quite inspiring.

THE CABULIWALLAH : BLOOM'S TAXONOMY

Text profile:

Writer: Rabindranath Tagore
Genre: Story
Major theme: Struggle of people with low income

BLOOM'S TAXONOMY:

1. REMEMBERING:

The Cabuliwallah is a story written by Rabindranath Tagore. The story portrays the father-daughter relationship. The story is written in the first person with the writer himself as the father.
The story proceeds with a description of his young daughter Mini who was like every normal child. She was outrageous, talkative, curious and very dynamic. One day the child calls in a Cabuliwallah, a person who is a street from an Afghani origin. The Cabuliwallah is a fruit vendor who has come to calcutta in order to find a fortune for him and his family. Mini steers away from the cabuliwallah at first due to his big bag and huge body but she gradually befriends him. One winter afternoon the Cabuliwallah gets scammed and is taken into prison. Rahaman, the Cabuliwallah was forgotten after the incident. After eight years the Cabuliwallah finally gets out of the prison but the same day happened to be the same day Mini was getting married. The Cabuliwallah reaches to Mini's house but he is not allowed to get inside and meet Mini. The writer saw him and lets him in but still refuses to let him meet Mini. He begins to narrate his story to the narrator how he had a daughter back at his country and shows a small paper with the imprint of his daughter's hand. The writer gets touched by his story and lets him meet Mini. But by that time Mini had already forgotten him and all he could do was smile at the girl who once was a boisterous young girl.

2. UNDERSTANDING:

If we disclose the metaphor portrayed in the story, we can come with an idea that the Cabuliwallah in the story is represented as the poor, weak and helpless people we find in our own society. They are shooed away from one place to another. They are judged as bad and harmful. They are blamed for any bad happenings in society. They are charged with punishments without properly investigating and even though they are actually very innocent. The writer and his family are shown as a decent family who does not prejudge people based on their appearance or their race. They keep a low profile and talks well with every other member in the society. The mother is shown as a protective one as she disapproves Mini's relationship with the Cabuliwallah. The incident where the Cabuliwallah is arrested besides his innocence has shown the influence of the rich ones over in the society.

3. APPLYING:

The events in the story are very much relatable table to our society. the major three differences are shown in the society in the story between the people in society. We too have certain people who we deem as harmful even though we ever know their true intuitions. They are the ones who are hated even though they actually are doing good. The second step is for the genuine ones whose presence really does not matter. Then we finally have the rich and powerful ones. They are always right no matter how bad deeds they do. We must let people be free and able to practice their rights as they please. Everyone must be treated equally in society. We must be the help for the helpless. We must pass on the same illusion to the further generation to provide a better foundation for society.

4. ANALYZING:

The text shows how we are under the illusion that the outer appearance of a person defines his character. The Cabuliwallah is taken as a dangerous person by Mini's mother due to which Mini was initially scared of the Cabuliwallah but after getting to know him properly, she discovered the Cabuliwallah was harmless and became good friends with him. This again was looked with terror by Mini's mother. The story also puts light upon the role of woman in society. Women are always expected to make and look after the family and men are looked upon as the income of the family. The women are confined to the four walls of the household and expected to marry and get a family.

5. EVALUATION:

The story has a context of West Asian country and is written with simple words. It gives a rough idea of the general west Asian society. It has portrayed the events in beautifully woven words. The dialogues and monologue have made the story even more understandable.
